Cedar Cliff High School Reviews

my daughter seems to really enjoy the way the teachers run the class rooms. they make it fun and she doesnt even realize she is learning. Plus her grades have really improved alot.

After listening to my mother read over the other comments posted on this site, I had to log on and write something myself. As you can see by reading the other comments, the material taught was never grasped or commit to memory. Writing sentences that are fragments, or misspelling the word 'vary' when you mean to say 'very' doesn't show that you learned very much from The Cliff. Or saying, ' the teachers was nice and great education then other schools have' totally puts down the school and the teachers in it. At the very least, use proper English when talk about your school and make sure to spell check it. Seriously. Cedar Cliff is a good school but drastically needs improvement when it comes to reading, writing and grammar.

Projects didn t encourage critical thought or require any greater depth of knowledge than what could be harvested by jumping on the Internet the night prior to a due date. Even through senior year, projects focused on creation of brochures, posters, Junior High caliber art projects. My sons both took Level 1 courses following a block schedule: five sciences, five maths, yet they still lost ground with their writing skills from where they were at the end of 8th grade. In four years, my youngest only wrote one paper greater than 500 words requiring citations. Writing is not embraced, but art and music are heavily supported. Three years of a foreign language, and still my one son could not recite a single sentence in the language... but he made a heck of a menu with pretty pictures and colors on his computer and ended the 3rd year course with a B. I like CC. It is a nice working environment, and has the appropriate freedom. They do need to work on their drug policy and focus on things that matter, like pot, compared to expelling a kid for having tylenol.

The academics adhere to the state standard, but Cedar Cliff has a number of teachers who exceed those base requirements and who care about their students' learning. The school offers good programs for A/V studies, dramatic arts, and creative writing, and there are some really good social programs, like SADD for the kids to get involved in. With Highland elementary next door, the kids are also encouraged to participate in community programs to help those kids, as well. The band is very good, and the students in the band are very dedicated and work very hard; the same can be said for the athletics teams. However, the school could do more to encourage parent involvement.

Extracurruicular activites are vary big at this school. With facilities being high in quality. Parent involvement is vary high in these as well with a booster program for all sports. There is a wide range of class's to choose from as well that shouldn't give a student any trouble at all in finding something that intersts them.

I feel the level of academic courses enabled my child to easily gain admittance to several state colleges of his choice. There were no limits to the availability of extracurricular activities or sports. Cedar Cliff's sports reputation is excellent.

I stongly agree with the student's concerns - if you are upto the challenge and take upper level courses - you will be challenged - there are some great teachers at all levels - the students must take an active role in their education. The new CC high administration is great - and - hopefully our new superintendent will continue to raise the standards. One big - disapointment is in the area of athletics - especially girls - it's terrible. Also all coaches don't do enough to help get student get looked at by college coaches - and there are some good athletes of both sexes at this school.

I'm a current CC student and I must disagree with the previous parent's post. My opinion on classes at CC is simple--the student selects the quality of his classes. If you take the lower level classes, you will end up with the lower level teachers. I've taken the hardest classes possible each year and found that not only is class size smaller in those levels, but teachers are concerned about their students, knowledgeable about their subjects, and wonderful all around. Major complaints about the school are crowded hallways and poor athletic programs. My personal complaint is a lack of emphasis on achievement. The quality of education is there, but CC makes it so it's only available to the student who is mature enough to step up. Something like 50% of the graduating class goes to a local community college, and I believe we could strive for better.

i am a very concerned parent of a student who attends cedar cliff highschool. the classes are too crowded and the teachers are in just as much hurry to get out of the school as the students are. i was told that this school was a very good school to bring your children up in. and this school has not lived up to my expectations.
